Deer Season I went deer hunting the other week and shot these two deer. I went hunting for something interesting to shoot and found these two deer at a local Bass Pro shop.
Waiting in the Shadows Earlier this week, the crowds at the zoo were empty since the weather was hot, so few animals were moving about. This image was a challenge as it was shot through thick plastic. I had to look hard to find a clean area with no reflections. Then wait until the lion looked my way. He did, for only a moment. But that's all I needed.
I See You The Houston Zoo is a great place to spend the day. For the price of a movie ticket, you can spend all day watching the animals watch you.
Meerkats The meerkat or suricate is a small mammal belonging to the mongoose family and live in many south African deserts. These little guys are fun to watch and can stand still for long periods before scampering away. They like to burrow in large underground networks with multiple entrances which they leave only during the day to find food.
Texas Armadillo The lowly armadillo is mostly considered a pest, especially if you discover they've been digging up your yard or flowerbed. They have terrible eyesight and will walk right by you if you hold still. There are many species to be found, but one type is very easy to identify. It's the Texas Armadillo. It will be the one flat on it's back, guzzling a bottle of Lone Star. If it's drinking anything else, it's a Texas-want-to-be. This wood carving was found at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo vendor area.
